Bernstein at 100: May 30, June 1, & June 5, 6:30pm

Nassau Free Library joins with thousands of other cultural institutions around the world in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of one of America’s most renowned classical music celebrities – Leonard Bernstein. Three evening programs will celebrate the life, times and works of the Maestro through video presentations. On Wednesday, May 30 “Leonard Bernstein Larger Than Life” provides background on the early life and successes. Friday, June 1 “The Making of West Side Story” featuring Kiri Te Kanawa and JoséCarreras in the title roles and finally on Tuesday, June 5 the 50th anniversary edition of “West Side Story.” Winner of Best Picture in 1961, Natalie Wood and Rita Moreno rose to start-status after release of this film. All presentations start at 6:30 pm, admission is free, but please call (518) 766-2715 to reserve your space.
