Patron Behavior Policy

The Nassau free library is operated for the enjoyment and safety of all members during their library visits.

Library staff will have the authority and discretion to determine what is unacceptable behavior. Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to:

  • Disturbing other patrons or staff
  • Eating, sleeping or smoking
  • Destroying property
  • Loitering
  • Harming or threatening others
  • Performing illegal acts
  • Using foul language

The library staff will speak to the individual(s) immediately. If that does not resolve the situation, then the staff may ask the individual(s) to leave, revoke library privileges, or notify police as necessary.
