Online Research for school, home and office is free through UHLS databases

You can use your Nassau library card to access free online databases at www.uhls.org.

Your online Encyclopedia can be GROLIER Online.  Research full-text newspaper articles published in the New York Times or the Albany Times Union  at INFOTRAC NEWSSTAND and at NEW YORK STATE NEWSPAPERS.  Find out the symptoms of illnesses and learn about treatment for health issues at HEALTH REFERENCE CENTER ACADEMIC.

These are examples of the many ways you can find information and conduct online research for yourself, your family, and for students.  Contact us in the library with your questions.  We are here to help you with your research.

Note: you will need to type in your library card number, on the back of your card, to use these databases.

SUPPORT SERVICES IN NASSAU

CANDLEAre you familiar with the Nassau Resource Center?  This organization is located on Church St. in the Village of Nassau.  It is run by dedicated volunteers and is supported by the community’s churches and synagogue.  It provides free food and clothing to persons in need, and its director, Dianna Murphy, is very skilled in guiding people to other support services in Rensselaer County.  The phone number for the center is 766-9014.

The Nassau Sunshine Fund provides another valuable service to residents of the town and villages of Nassau.  Those who find themselves in a sudden emergency financial crisis might apply to this organization for an interest-free loan of up to $500.  To learn more about the Sunshine Fund, call 256-6878.
